The Most Enchanting German Women 2010
Honorable Mention: Romy Schneider

There is a particular reason why I did not include Romy Schneider in the list of the “Most Enchanting German Women”, and it has nothing to do with the fact that she is already deceased. It’s because, according to sources on the internet, she never wanted to be perceived as German, but rather as Austrian. Nonetheless, she was and always will be very popular in Germany, even 28 years after her death in May of 1982.
Born into a family of actors, Romy Schneider started acting when she was only a teenager in the 1950s. Her breakthrough came in 1955, when she portrayed “Sissi” aka Elisabeth, the young Empress of Austria, in a movie by the same title. Even though the original “Sissi” movie and two sequels were probably the most successful movies of her career, she soon tried to get rid of the “Sissi” image and started to take on more dramtic roles. In 1958, she played Manuela, the young student at a Prussian boarding school who falls in love with her teacher (internationally renowned actress Lilli Palmer) in the movie “Mädchen in Uniform”.

In the late 1950s, Romy Schneider decided to live and work in France to be with her fiancé, Alain Delon. Even though she and Delon later split, they remained lifelong friends and continued to work together, most notably in the movie “La Piscine” (“The Swimming Pool”).
Romy Schneider was married twice, and had two children. In 1981, at the age of 14, her son David was killed in a tragic accident when he tried to climb a spiked fence and was skewered. After David’s death, she started to drink alcohol excessively, and also took pills. She still managed to shoot another movie, “La passante du Sans-Souci” (“The Passerby”), which would become her last movie. When she suddenly died in May 1982 at the age of 43, her dead was ruled a cardiac arrest, but there was speculation that she might have committed suicide with a lethal cocktail of alcohol and sleeping pills.

In 1980, two years before her death

WOW! Your readers got a real good taste, MeL! I feel that the inspiration for another video dedicated only to the 12 winning ladys is coming to my mind.
I’m a little bit proud that Meike Schlüter is still in the mind of people ’round here or maybe my little interference with a few pictures of her in the video worked.
Btw thank you for considering my little slideshow video the must see of the week, I am really flattered!
When I get my computer back (hopefully tomorrow) I will start to work on the winning ladys video. The power supply was damaged and that ruined also my hard disc drive. Luckily I saved most of the data on an external drive, so I should be able to begin right then, when the repair is done.

A few days ago, I had the chance to personally tell Anne Will that she was voted “Most Enchanting German Woman” by you. At first, she joked that there was probably only one name on the list of candidates, but when I told her that there was no list of candidates at all, and that she also got votes from outside of Germany, she was very impressed. We only talked briefly, but it was enough to convince me that the result of this poll was very well deserved, she’s very nice, charming, and also very attractive.
I didn’t have the chance to talk to Miriam Meckel as well, but I told Anne Will that her girlfriend made the list of Most Enchanting Women as well. Anne joked that it’s better to not let Miriam know that she only came in 3rd.
I know it’s only September, but after this chance meeting, I’m sure which real-life couple will definitely make my “Enchanting Women of 2010″ list.
Olá, sou fã de Claudia Hiersche.Alguém sabe quando ela volta a TV ou ao cinema?
Saudades de Claudia Hiersche.

Will there be a new poll this year: Most Enchanting German Women 2011?
I’m pretty sure I already know which two lovely ladies would come in on spot #1 and #2.
I’m sure about that, too.
Unfortunately, at the moment, it’s because of those two ladies that I’m way too busy to conduct another poll.
But maybe later this year.
