Enchanting German Women (Part 1): Actresses

Still don’t know who to vote for in the “Most Enchanting German Women” poll? As promised, here are some suggestions. First off: Enchanting German Actresses.

Franka Potente

Franka Potente literally took the movie world by storm with her role as Lola, the woman with the glaring red hair who runs not for her, but for her boyfriend’s life in the internationally acclaimed German movie “Lola rennt” (“Run Lola Run”). She went on to play more critically acclaimed roles in German movies before Hollywood called, where she starred in the movie “Blow” alongside Johnny Depp and was the female lead in “The Bourne Identity” with Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. Last year, she had a guest role in the successful TV show “House M.D.”.

Diane Kruger

When German director Wolfgang Petersen was looking for an actress to play the part of Helen of  Troy in his epic movie “Troy”, who could have been a better choice than beautiful model-turned-actress Diane Kruger? Born and bred near the German city of Hildesheim as “Diane Heidkrüger”, she worked as a fasion model in Paris before turning to acting. Besides “Troy”, she is probably best known for her roles in “National Treasure” alongside Nicolas Cage and Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”.

Heike Makatsch

Heike Makatsch started her career in the early 1990s as a TV host on German music channel VIVA. She won movie audiences’ hearts and the praise of critics with her first movie role in German director Detlev Buck’s “Männerpension” (“Jailbirds”) and has worked as an actress ever since. To international audiences, the mother of two, who dated “James Bond” Daniel Craig for a couple of years, is probably best known as the woman who tried to steal Emma Thompson’s husband, played by Alan Rickman, in the British movie “Love Actually”.

  1. Heike Makatsch, Diane Kruger und Franka Potente? Really? Hmmm… I know all three of them, and I like their acting skills, especially Franka’s, but most enchanting german women… not to me, but tastes are different! ;)

Probably they are the best known german actresses in foreign countries, and that’s the point, we should tell the world, that we got even more to offer in stunning women than these three! ;)

What about Charlotte Schwab? Over 50 and still gorgeous! Here’s the proof: http://www.charlotteschwab.de/wallpaper01.jpg

And when I’m talking of Charlotte Schwab, how could I forget about Ann-Kathrin Kramer and her in the TV-movie “Die Konkurrentin”?

What about Julia Neigel? Beautiful voice and even more beautiful looks! http://www.jva.bremen.de/fastmedia/12/jn02_300dpi.jpg

And if speaking of beautiful voices and beautiful looks, another name comes to my mind: Juliette Schoppmann – “Superstar” of my heart!

And what about Leonore Capell and Katja Keller the most beloved couple in the history of “Marienhof”, and equally beloved by gay and straight viewers I have to say!

Or Meike Schlüter and Barbara Sotelsek aka Barbara Neumann the best couple of “Hinter Gittern”? Both beautiful and talented actresses and sooo breathtaking when they’re together. And it was especially Meikes talent, passion and her smile that kept me watching HG! *sigh*

  2. Great suggestions, thanks for posting them. :) I edited one of the links, though, because the picture was a bit too racy. ;)

“Die Konkurrentin” is one of my favorite movies, I think I probably know most of the dialogues by heart by now. And I totally agree with you regarding Meike Schlüter, she was so adorable as Kerstin Herzog and the only reason to watch that show. I miss her.

  3. Thank you, MeL, for starting this wonderful poll! And you are not the only one to know the whole dialogues of “Die Konkurrentin”. ;) Sorry, for the bit too racy image and sorry for my bad english it’s been a while since I was used to speak or write in this language, but I’m trying to improve it again.

P.s.: I can’t tell you how much I miss Meike Schlüter on my TV screen. *sigh* I even watched a few episodes of “Julia – Wege zum Glück” just to see her again, and that was really a huge sacrifice, cause that show was total crap imho, but to catch a glimpse of Meike, it was totally worth it. ;)

Okay, I guess now I have to go to YouTube to watch all the Kerstin and Sascha stuff again and again and again… ;)
