Portia de Rossi Gives American Voters A Lecture On Civil Rights
While promoting the new season of her show “Better Off Ted”, out actress Portia de Rossi is casually giving the American public a lecture on marriage equality and what being American is supposed to mean.

Leave it to an Australian to tell American voters off for voting against marriage equality.
Australian actress Portia de Rossi, who got married to girlfriend Ellen DeGeneres in August of 2008 during the short period of time in which gay marriage was legal in California, was a guest on two American TV morning shows today, “Good Morning America” and “The View”. While the purpose of the interviews was actually to promote the second season of Portia’s show “Better Off Ted”, which starts next week, it turned into a lecture on civil liberties and the American way when interviewers asked Portia about her marriage and what it means to her.
In a calm and charming manner, Portia explained what the right to get married is really about, that it is not a religious or a moral issue, but a civil rights issue, and that it seems unamerican to her that voters are allowed to vote on and remove the rights of a minority. (Which is what happened in California with Prop. 8 and what happened again in Maine only last month, where voters voted against the right to get married for gays and lesbians.)
Here are the interviews:
1. Good Morning America
2. The View
Portia’s wife Ellen meanwhile proved that marriage is also about supporting your spouse, which she did in her very unique, Web 2.0 way: she posted the YouTube-links for the interviews on Twitter.

Thanks for the post. I didnt get too see the first one! Happy Holidays!
