While gathering the news for my weekly news round-up, I completely forgot to add the link to Alex’ interview with Diva Magazine. To make up for this unforgivable omission, I decided to dedicate a whole blog post to her.

Here’s the thing: You all know by now that I’m a diehard Ellen DeGeneres fan. But in October 2000, my dedication was put to a test when Ellen showed up at “Women Rock!”, a charity event for the National Alliance of Breast Cancer, with Alex Hedison as her date. It was only a short clip on Entertainment Tonight, but I remember that I couldn’t take my eyes off her and that all I could think was “Wow!”

When Ellen left Alex 4 years later, in December of 2004, to be with Portia de Rossi, I didn’t get it. In fact, I was seriously worried about Ellen’s state of mind. Back then, like most of us I only knew Portia from her role in Ally McBeal, and even though I thought that she was attractive, I never actually thought that she was hot, at least not compared with Alex. (And this opinion hasn’t changed, not even by the 2009 AE Hot 100 list that has Portia on No. 1 and Alex on No. 67.)

In the following years, I watched Alex in both “Designing Blind” and of course “The L Word”, and liked her in both shows equally. While she was undeniably sexy in “The L Word”, in “Designing Blind” she could show her smart and funny side. And in case you didn’t know this before, let me tell you, she’s hilarious.

Alex is on the June cover of British lesbian magazine DIVA. In the interview, which was conducted by her “L Word”-costar Rachel Shelley (“Helena Peabody”), she talks about growing up in the presence of celebrities (her father is actor David Hedison), working on “The L Word”, and what it was like for her to see Ellen & Portia’s wedding picture on the cover of a magazine.
