Do You Hear What I Hear?

Something that I allow myself during the Christmas season is to become a little childish. It’s not that I start acting like a child (hopefully), but I start enjoying things that are actually made for children. For example, one of my favourite Christmas movies is The Muppet Christmas Carol, and just this week, I watched a movie about a talking moose that belongs to Santa Clause and that crashes through the roof of a house a few days before Christmas – cute and hilarious.

That’s why my favourite Christmas song is not Wham’s omnipresent “Last Christmas” or the Bing Crosby classic “White Christmas”, even though – of course – they’re both on the “X-Mas” playlist of my iPod. No, my favourite Christmas song is sung by a cute red puppet and a big-mouthed, usually controversial, but still popular former talk show host and mother of four. Well, at least she’s also a lesbian.

I’ve loved this song ever since I first saw Elmo & Rosie O’Donnell perform it on the “Today Show” in the late 1990s, and I’m glad that somebody put this clip on YouTube so that I can share it with you.
