One of the guilty pleasures that I treat myself to is pay-TV. I enjoy the variety of programs and to watch my favorite shows without commercial breaks. I watched all 214 episodes of Stargate SG-1 on the Sci-Fi channel, Ellen’s announcement of her engagement with Portia on E!News and Designing Blind with Alexandra Hedison on The Biography Channel. It was the latter that, only last week, allowed me to travel back in time for a reunion with one of my favorite actresses – Kristy McNichol.

As a child, I loved the TV show “Family” about the Lawrence family, and I especially liked Buddy Lawrence, played by Kristy McNichol. (I now know that having a crush on “Buddy” was quite common among blossoming lesbians – how surprising ). But I really fell for her when I first saw the movie “Just The Way You Are”. A lot of people say that it wasn’t a very good movie, and I now know about the difficulties Kristy had when doing this movie, that she even had to stop filming because of her health problems. Still, I loved this movie, and it’s one of my favourites ever since.

In the biography I saw, they said that Kristy hasn’t been in front of a camera ever since her last appearance on “Empty Nest” in 1995, and I think that’s regrettable for her audience. Still, I wish her all the best and all the happiness in the world, and thank her for some great TV moments.
