I have to dedicate this post to two smart and sexy women, Anne Will and Miriam Meckel, who came out as a couple this weekend:

Germany’s Top TV Journalist Anne Will Comes Out

I ran into Miriam Meckel (on the right) at a party in Cologne in 2001, and she was absolutely stunning. I was tempted to hit on her, but then I didn’t. After all, back then she was government spokesperson for the German state of Nord Rhine-Westphalia, I was still very shy, and she wasn’t exactly alone – her then-girlfriend was with her and kept an eye on her all night.

So I knew about Miriam Meckel, and I had heard rumors about Anne Will, and when the two of them started to show up together at various events, it was obvious that they were a couple, at least to me and everyone else who had eyes. Just look at this picture, which was taken two years ago:

Still, neither of them ever talked about it publicly before last Saturday. Now, a lot of straight guys, who adore Anne Will (she once was voted sexiest woman on television by the predominantly male readers of a German magazine) are heart-broken.

I think it’s great that they finally came out. The more attractive, successful, famous women come out, the more tolerance will grow. The only thing I regret about this is that two very smart and yet sexy women are – at least for now – unavailable.
